Adams Morgan

The main commercial corridor of Adams Morgan is 18th Street, also known as restaurant row for its many and varied dining options.

Adams Morgan is one of the most liveliest neighborhoods in the nation's capital.
Almost everywhere you look there are colorful murals on the sides and fronts of buildings to capture your attention. The neighborhood also boasts some of the city's best restaurants and nightlife.
A quick stroll down 18th Street -- the neighborhood's main commercial corridor -- and you're likely to encounter aromas of Ethiopian, Italian, French, Mexican, Salvadoran, Spanish, African, Caribbean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Middle Eastern delicacies wafting through the air.
With its numerous clubs and bars, Adams Morgan attracts not only tourists off the beaten path, but residents from the surrounding metro area in droves on the weekends.
And then there's the annual Adams Morgan Day Festival each September, when 18th Street is open only to pedestrians who come from all over the city to enjoy this neighborhood's diverse culinary offerings and crafts.
But there is another side of Adams Morgan, as well. The northern-most section of the neighborhood was once known only as Lanier Heights. Bounded by Quarry Road, Columbia Road and Adams Mill Road, this residential enclave is home to The Ontario, one of the most prestigious luxury apartment houses in all of the city. The controversial General Douglas MacArthur was but one of numerous Washington dignitaries to call The Ontario home.
Adams Morgan is bordered to the north by Mount Pleasant, to the east by Columbia Heights, to the west by Kalorama Triangle, and to the south by Dupont Circle.
Its boundaries include Florida Avenue/U Street to the south, Harvard Street to the north, and 16th Street to the east. The area's western boundary is a matter of debate. Some say it extends all the way to Columbia Road, others contend it is 18th Street.
