Woodley Park

The Woodley Mansion, from which the neighborhood takes its name, is located on the campus of the Maret School, a private institution.

Tourists to the nation's capital are hard-pressed to tell they are in a city when traveling through Woodley Park.
Aside from a commercial strip along Connecticut Avenue, the neighborhood is a tree-lined residential oasis.
Woodley Park is bounded by  Klingle Road to the north, Calvert Street and Rock Creek Park to the south, Cathedral Avenue and Rock Creek Park to the east,  and Cleveland Avenue and 34th Street to the west.
Woodley Park has the distinction of being home to the newly reconstructed Oyster Bilingual School -- the first new public school to be constructed in the city in 20 years!
The Maret School, a co-ed private school offering kindergarten through 12th grade education, also calls Woodley Park home. The school's seven acre campus is located on Cathedral Avenue.
Among the buildings on the Maret School's campus is the Woodley mansion, after which the neighborhood is named. Presidents Van Buren, Tyler and Buchanan all used the mansion, which was built around 1803, as their summer residence when in office.
Woodley Park is also the site of two of  Washington's largest hotels: the the Omni Shoreham, a Washington landmark since 1930, and the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
Built in 1918 by Washington real estate mogul Harry Wardman, the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel is located on 16 acres and boasts 1,350 rooms, making it the largest hotel in the nation's capital.
